Moonboot Fitting
What is a moon boot fitting?
If you’ve fractured your foot or ankle, or tore a calf muscle, a professionally fitted moon boot protects the area and lets you stay mobile during recovery.
We stock a full range of moon boot sizes and fit each one to your foot and injury in-clinic. A boot that’s the wrong size or poorly adjusted can slow healing, throw off your gait, and cause new problems in your other leg, hip, or back.

Why does the right fit matter?
- Protects the injury by properly immobilising and offloading the fractured or injured area
- Prevents secondary problems: a poorly fitted boot changes how you walk and can strain your knee, hip, and lower back
- We give advice and recommendation to correct leg-length difference with an even-up shoe balancer for your other foot. This helps reduce risk of back pain from wearing your moonboot for prolonged period of time.
Treatment and recovery planning
Fitting the boot is only the start. For patients recovering from a fractured foot or ankle, we create a structured, personalised treatment plan that guides you through each stage of healing including your weight-bearing progression, how long to wear the boot, when and how to transition back into normal footwear, and a rehab pathway to rebuild strength and mobility. We monitor your progress at follow-up appointments and adjust the plan as you heal, so you recover safely and get back on your feet with confidence.
